Qube! Designer Licensing FAQ
- What is Qube! Designer licensing?
Qube! Designer licensing provides a complete render farm management system that is limited to running one job (or “instance” or “slave”) per host. A host is a computer, a server, or a desktop running OSX, Linux or Windows.
- Why is PipelineFX offering Designer licensing?
Qube! Designer licensing recognizes the way certain markets utilize render management based on the limitations of their primary content creation applications. While film and visual effects studios and most schools run multiple render jobs on their Workers and mix applications like Maya, Vray, Nuke, Arnold and PRMan, other companies limit their rendering to one job per host. Designer licensing better matches cost to usage and offers the most affordable licensing of any professional render management application.
- Is Qube! Designer licensing right for me?
If you are an architect, motion graphics studio, broadcast station or post production house that typically runs applications that lend themselves to one job per host, then Qube! Designer licensing may be right for you. Creative applications that lend themselves to only running one job per render host include Autodesk 3ds Max, Maxon Cinema 4D, and Adobe After Effects.
- How exactly is Designer licensing different from Unlimited licensing?
The software features and functionality are exactly the same as Qube! Unlimited. The only difference is the restriction to dispatching no more than one job per host at a time.
- What is the price?
Qube! Designer licensing is sold as a base package of 5 Workers, the Supervisor and one year Maintenance and Support for a U.S. list price of $500. Each Worker license after the base package lists for U.S. $100 (U.S. $80 for the license and U.S $20 for Maintenance and Support). Check out our pricing page or contact email@example.com for a price quote.
- Can I upgrade later to Qube! Unlimited if I want to run multiple jobs per host?
Yes. You will only need to pay the difference in list price for the Software and the Maintenance and Support for the remaining term of your Qube! Designer Maintenance and Support.
- Can I downgrade to Qube! Designer licensing from Qube! Unlimited?
Yes, but only when your Maintenance and Support renews. You can purchase Qube! Designer Maintenance and Support and sign a COD (certificate of destruction) for your Qube! Unlimited licenses. You will then be issued a new Qube! Designer license.
- Can I add Qube! Designer licenses to my existing Qube! Unlimited render farm?
No. Mixed environments are not supported. If you need to run more than one job per host you should buy Qube! Unlimited licensing.
- Can I still rent daily or monthly licenses if I’m running Qube! Designer?
