Svengali FX Leverages Qube! On Star Trek Render Pipeline
PipelineFX, makers of Qube!™ software, the leading render farm management software for film and post production, game development, and digital media education around the world, today announced that Los Angeles-based Svengali FX has deployed Qube! to manage the rendering visual effects for visual effects work including “Star Trek.”
“Svengali FX is a Nuke based facility running in a Mac environment,” said Stefano Trivelli, VFX Supervisor at Svengali FX. “Qube! Was rock solid throughout the production of Star Trek. Our team was able to focus on the high standard of quality work that the film demanded knowing we had a solid render management solution in place. Stability within the render farm is important to us and Qube! delivered.”
“Qube! is great because it is easy to use, easy to set up and offers the best value for the features and functionality it delivers,” said Jamie Venable, President, Svengali FX. “Without question, we are pleased with our decision to go with Qube!”
Using the Python API, Qube! is directly called as a menu item within Nuke that allows compositing artists to submit jobs from within the application. Once submitted, artists and wranglers can use the unlicensed Qube! GUI from any machine on the network to manage the jobs, view individual rendered frames, re-start failed frames, kill jobs, view standard error and standard out and see at a glance the progress of their renders.
“We’ve been supporting the Mac platform since the “Final Fantasy” days,” said Troy Brooks, CEO of PipelineFX. “Having the Qube! Supervisor, Worker and management GUI available on three platforms – Mac, Linux and Windows – has allowed our customers to pick and choose their infrastructure or choice. We are proud to be working with a VFX studio of Svengali FX’s caliber.”
